  • 7 STUDY HABITS (KS3 & 4) Students learn how to maximise learning during study times. They consider how, when and where they study and what they need to take into consideration to make best use of their time. related page for parents can be found in Appendix 2.
  • 9 STRESSBUSTER (KS3 & 4) Students consider how stress affects the body and learn a relaxation technique which they can use in the exam room. They discuss individual differences in stress response and identify a range of responses in the main body organs.
  • 11 A HEALTHY MIND IN A HEALTHY BODY (KS3 & 4) Students learn how important it is to look after their body by eating and sleeping well and to look after their psychological state by ensuring a balance between work and play.
  • 13 WAYS TO REVISE (KS3 & 4) To learn how the senses can be used in different revision methods. This should move the students from just reading through their notes to using more active revision methods.
  • 15 WHO CAN HELP? (KS3 & 4) Students are encouraged to have the confidence to ask for help when they need it. They gather information about different sources of help available, both individuals and organisations, both in and out of school. A related page for parents can be found in Appendix 1.
  • 17 PRACTICE TESTS (KS4) To learn how to use practice tests as productive way of analysing strengths and weaknesses and thus be able to devise an action plan to improve in weak areas.
  • 19 REVISION AIDS (KS4) Students learn to produce revision aids tailored to their own needs by reducing information to key facts, key vocabulary and numbered points. By making their own revision cards, they are using an active approach and are therefore more likely to retain the information.
  • 21 PRIORITISE (KS3 & 4) How to prioritise the many tasks that need to be completed and thus help students to make better use of their time. They look at case studies and prioritise them.
  • 23 TARGET SETTING (KS4) To introduce target setting using the SMART target system as used by careers and PSHE systems and give students practice in setting such targets. Students take home and discuss their targets with parents or guardians.
  • 25 SETTING GOALS (KS4) To acknowledge the need for goals and learn to be realistic in setting them. Students will learn the value of having a plan B in case things do not work out as they wish.
