Key Stage 3

• 65 THE EFFICIENT FUEL CO. Students compare the energy in different fuels and choose the one most efficient for a specific task. Using a spreadsheet application, they calculate the energy that has gone into the water and the energy per gram of fuel.
• 67 HOME IMPROVEMENTS After comparing the insulating properties of double and single glazing, students learn to record the results using datalogging equipment.
• 69 PUT THAT LIGHT OUT Students learn how to calculate the cost per minute of using electrical items, and use a spreadsheet to create automatic calculations of the amps, kilowatt-hour value and cost per minute for electrical items.
